20-Year-Old Man and 17-Year-Old Charged After Woodbine Beach Assault

Toronto police say two people have been charged after an assault at Woodbine Beach left one person with serious injuries.

Officers were called to the beach at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, following reports of a stabbing. Police allege that the victim was approached by an adult man and a teenage boy before a verbal dispute began. Investigators say the victim was then assaulted with an edged weapon and a BB gun.

The injured person was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The two suspects allegedly left the area before they were arrested later in the week.

A 17-year-old Guelph boy was arrested the following day. He faces several charges, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon or imitation weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The teenager cannot be identified because of provisions under Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act.
